Il Cimitero Monumentale at 360 degrees, walking among the graves of the great Milanese!

Despite being born with the vocation of being a place open to all the Milanese, the majestic Cimitero Monumentale (Monumental Cemetery) in Milan, opened in 1866, is a place dedicated especially to the great Milanese. More than a fact cemetery, The Monumental is an open air museum designed by architect Carlo Maciachini (1818-1899) who worked reconciling different architectural styles: Byzantine, Gothic and Romanesque.

Grand entrance through the FAMEDIO or the Temple of Fame, a retelling of the medieval architecture. Be inside the impressive Famedio, in front of the tomb of the writer Alessandro Manzoni, and in between those of Giuseppe Verdi and Carlo Cattaneo make me feel the very special atmosphere that reigns at the Cimitero Monumentale.

As a spectator I immediately been ferried into the heart of the cultural history of my city, from the late nineteenth century. This is why I decided to make an immersive walk 360 degrees to show the art and culture in Milan to the world.
